Ice Climbing

Patagonia is home to the third largest ice field in the world, offering the perfect platform for getting onto a glacier to play – an exhilarating experience! Whether you choose moderate ice-trekking with crampons or ice climbing with harnesses and ice-axes, it is up to you!

Under the gimlet eye of a professional guide, experiencing the glaciers of Patagonia step by step can be conquered by anyone with a reasonable  level of fitness. Getting onto the glaciers will give you the chance to enjoy a unique and unforgettable landscape with streams, small lagoons, gullies, cravasses and plenty of ice formations with the most incredible hues. The magnificence of the granite mountains lashed together by the world’s most awe-inspiring glaciers provides a setting of immensity that will remain with you forever.

Our experiences last from 1.30 hours of moderate trekking on Perito Moreno, to full day hikes to the interior of the glacier. For the more adventurous souls we have introduction to ice climbing on Cagliero Glacier to multi-days expeditions on the Patagonia ice cap itself!

No previous experience is needed for most of our adventures and all safety and technical equipment is provided. The only thing you must bring is your profound love for off the beaten track, natural places and a  spirit for adventure!

Expert advice:
Patagonia is the only place in the world where you can experience massive glaciers reaching right into  the lush Nothofagus Forest! Spring and Summer are a fantastic time of the year to visit but if you are a photographer you may wish to come during the autumn when the forest changes into a sea of red and ochre giving an impressive contrast to the big ice!
