Ecuador & Galapagos

Ecuador straddles the Equator and a diverse landscape of Amazon jungle, the Galapagos Islands and the Andean highlands surely is one of the wonders of the world.  A vibrant culture awaits of pre-Incan and Spanish heritage, from snow-capped peaks of the Andes to the Amazon jungles brimming with a myriad of spectacular wildlife and waterways. The Galapagos Islands cannot be missed.  You are simply taken into a Darwinian world, a parallel universe, where a stunning array of animals have no natural fear of humans.  Beaches, lava fields, cliffs, and mangrove estuaries are just some of the sights that will dazzle.

Carolina's expert insight

Quito lies 2850m above sea level and adjusting to the altitude can be tricky. So take it easy, drink plenty of water to keep hydrated, you could even try drinking some of this area's infamous local altitude sickness remedy - coca tea.
